Overview:
Finely detailed antique Edwardian era Ships Wheel medallion crafted in 14k yellow gold (circa 1910).
The Ships Wheel features an enameled Burgee nautical flag for the South Coast Yacht Club that later became the Los Angeles (LA) Yacht Club. The back of the pendant is engraved "Com Bob Smith from The South Coast Boys" We can only imagine the camaraderie of the crew who honored Commodore Bob Smith with this elaborate medallion. "Com" Bob was R.C.P Smith who held the office in 1910. The Los Angeles Yacht Club was established in 1901 and the medallion is a great early example of nautical jewelry. With thanks to an eBay member who reached out to graciously offer detailed information about the history of the piece.
The piece is in very good condition. We have not cleaned it in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
