Finely detailed Victorian pendant (circa 1880s to 1900s) crafted in 14 karat rose gold. 

Small approx. 1mm rose cut diamonds are set into the star (estimated at L-M color and I2-3 clarity). One 4.5mm pearl is set into the center. 

With an outline of turquoise baby blue enamel, the diamond set North Star is the centerpiece of the beautiful antique Victorian locket. It opens to reveal the picture of a handsome young man with a lock of hair. The North Star, also known as Polaris, which can only be seen in the Northern Hemisphere. The North Star is depicted with eight points and with the north and south points being the longest. The star has been a popular motif for centuries and particularly during the Victorian era. The locket was popular during the Victorian era when a memento was placed inside to memorialize a loved one. Crafted in soft 14k rose gold the locket is larger in scale at 2 x 1 1/8 inches (including the bale). The bale measures 6mm wide and can accommodate a thick chain if desired.    

The pendant is in good original condition showing wear including some loss to the enamel and dents to the back of the locket. Light scratches and slight discoloration to the metal consistent with age and use.
