Overview:
Stylish antique Victorian opal & diamond ring (circa 1880s to 1900s) crafted in 18 karat yellow gold.
Cabochon cut opal measure from 2mm to 7mm angel skin coral measures 12mm x 5.5mm. Old mine and rose cut diamonds are estimated at approx. 0.04 to 0.05 carats. The total diamond weight is estimated at 1.25 carats (estimated at L-M color and SI2-I2 clarity). The opals are in good condition and free of cracks or chips.
The delightful ring is a feast for the eyes! With a row of colorful opals to the center & bordering black enamel, the old mine cut diamonds offer a beautiful shimmer with every movement of the ring. The elongated cocktail ring has a low profile and sits flat and comfortably on the hand (rises 3.5mm or 0.13 inches). 7 of the diamonds have been replaced over the years (rose cuts) with one diamond recessed into the mount. Due to the age of the ring, we decided not to replace the diamond and has been left in tact within the mount. The ring has also been resized and re-shanked (in 14k gold).
The ring is in good condition. We have not cleaned it in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
