Overview:
Exceptional pair of antique Victorian amphora drop earrings (circa 1870s) crafted in 15k yellow gold.
The charming earrings are crafted as Amphorae, most often fashioned in ceramic, depicted here in 15k yellow gold. The vessels were used by the ancients to transport wine, oil and other liquids. Crafted in the archaeological revival style, a popular theme during the mid-Victorian era when archaeological discoveries fueled a desire for objects in the ancient style. The earrings are crafted in the shape of amphoras, suspended from triangular mounts with fitted hook backings.
The earrings are in very good original condition. We have not cleaned them in order to preserve the patina and collector value.
